It is now well known that Lady Dorothy had a long standing relationship with Robert Boothby. One of the Macmillan children - not the son and heir - was his rather than Harold's. Macmillan made Boothby a peer at his request. Boothby was at best a somewhat gamey character - blocked from ministerial office after a financial scandal - close to #eastend villains such as the #krays - and known to be bisexual.
