Really having fun learning the #XPlane X1000 (G1000) avionics in the Laminar Cessna 172SP. Flying IFR flights and approaches every day or night in real-world WX. Parked now at #KSEA in front of the #Alaska #Airlines maintenance hangar, will fly the return to Eugene later tonight.

One thing I have learned is that VNAV in this avionics setup is buggy as hell, so I am doing my own step-downs.

And that dude in the left seat is one of the Alaska techs helping me troubleshoot the VNAV glitch.

20 planes that arrived and are waiting to go to their gates. One is now moving that has been waiting for an hour.

21 planes are lining up to take off.

ATL did a brilliant thing and set up a bypass taxiway to let flights go around the end of the runway, so they don’t have to stop traffic. Seattle could use that. (As well as a second large airport, which they’re scouting out.)

SeaTac air traffic control is having a really bad night.

I can’t upload images for some reason, but there are over 20 planes queued to GO TO THEIR GATES. Some are lost, some aren’t responding to ATC’s hails, and some are blocking taxiways for planes whose gates HAVE opened.

This exchange happened earlier, right as I fired it up:

Controller - “I’m having as much fun as you are!”
Pilot - “Oh, boy…”
Controller - “Yeah, happy Monday, right?”
Pilot - “Oh, boy…”

Bad night at SeaTac. Look at all the planes lined up just to get to their gates.

I tuned into the ground frequency and the first thing I heard was:
Controller - “I’m having as much fun as you are.”
Pilot - “Oh, boy…”
Controller - “Yeah, happy Monday, right?”
Pilot - “Oh, boy…”
