A #kubernetes operator sets a PodDisruptionBudget automatically with a hard-coded value. My issue asking for an option to override or disable it was closed with "works as intended, you can manually delete this resource".

I'm a bit disappointed about this is pretty annoying in case of node drains for deployments with a single replica.

Is there a valid reason to enforce a PDB even if the app supports singe replica deployments?

I need another piece of Kubernetes advice: I've now worked through a couple of Helm examples.
Keeping in mind that I'd like to have everything in git, I'm currently leaning towards having an overarching "homelab" chart. In the "dependencies" section of the Chart.yaml I would then keep all external charts I use, with their config values in the homelab chart's values.yaml file. Then, I would put all my own charts under the charts/ directory.

What downsides am I overlooking?

Aye #homelab got lots to do today. First need to rebuild my lxd host!! I was thinking debian but maybe Alpine! I guess I want something minimal underneath since I do pretty much all of my business at the #lxd layer. I have never used either that much! Sort of leaning towards alpine... maybe?

I like when people ask if you can change the #CNI in a #kubernetes cluster on the fly, without destroying and recreating the cluster. Well, you *can* but is it simple, non-expensive, and not time-consuming? No. It's also very dependent on your specific application deployments.

Just finished spending a couple of hours trying to figure out a bug which gave me "Connection refused" for the Nginx container in the "Connecting applications with services" tutorial. Turns out that the keys under a ConfigMap's "data:" key are the filenames, and I had just used "default", which had nginx not actually read the config file in "nginx/conf.d". 🤦

Chatting with the SuSE folks at #OLFConference about my displeasure with #Docker and the silliness of running a virtual container inside a virtual machine, (because nearly everything today is virtualized). They directed me to look at https://github.com/harvester/harvester which is a solution for #kubernetes on bare metal. THAT actually makes sense to me.

Now if only that team works with the #Proxmox team to get this natively supported in that ecosystem...
