My first activation is in the books. It went better than I hoped. on 20 and 40 with a long wire. I should not have waited so long! Now to keep practicing. Thanks to all hunters and their patience!

@G0TRT Most summits I’ve done haven’t had trees and I generally use the fishing pole with EFHW. Find the AX1 really handy on busier summits, when it’s really windy or when I’m feeling lazy!
Good choice with the it’s a great portable radio.

and set up for my recent trip to the US. Pencil case has:
- N9TAX J-pole
- K6ARK trapped EFHW for 20/30/40M
- Bungees to attach pole to posts etc
- 3 tent pegs
- Elecraft AX1 Antenna
with paddle, built in mic for back-up SSB. -D74E. Diamond . DAM 4M pocket pole.
