Day Twenty-Seven: New EDITION?

Two come to mind.

D&D 4e: I really enjoyed this game for what it was. If WotC rebranded this as "D&D Tactics" or something and continued the revisions started with Essentials, this could be a great dungeon crawl/battlefield RPG.

Legend of the Five Rings: I like the reimagining that FFG started with, but for the love of the kami could you please stop using funky dice? Or at least stick to one set?

So, for the finale of my #L5R campaign, I'm sending the PCs into my version of #Iuchiban's tomb, so I thought that I could get inspiration and nice 'handouts' by taking the ones from the actual box.
Then I thought it'd be nice if I colorized them to increase clarity and stuff.

I'm actually struggling to think of one. One that comes to mind is in an L5R campaign where I helped to defend the village that we were stationed in from a Nezumi attack, and ended up becoming their Yojimbo which gave my character a greater purpose than to throw his life away in the pursuit of glory.

"Describe a session moment that got you goosebumps."

Player: The final session of our Legend of the Five Rings campaign. I was playing Kitsune Toshi, an archer of the Mantis Clan that had become something of legend by this point. Our party was battling a minor Oni summoned by a disgraced former Lion general. I get a couple solid shots in before the Oni lunges at me and almost kills me. Our shugenja stabilises me and I provide support as we finish it off.

Writing your own adventures and finding out the game you are playing have no rules for chase scenes, lantern and torch light. Well, time to roll up your sleeves and make some.
Creating some #L5R rules for "Chase Conflicts" using momentum for ultimate success. And new item property: Light X, where X is the range band through bright light occurs and dim light one range band past that. Hope they come in handy for some gamers out there. @ttrpg

Day Nine: Favorite DICE

Chessex Speckled Mercury Polyhedral (and d10s). I have had these forever. I have used them for so many games. The D10s are great for both #VampireTheMasquerade and #LegendOfTheFiveRings Scorpion Clan. I have several other dice sets, but this one is my go-to.

Runner-ups include my #Genesys dice (love that system) and a set of transparent green D6s (which roll a frightening large number of 6s).

Just had one of the coolest experiences in years. Over a decade ago I was trying to be a freelance illustrator in the #rpg world. Had just enough skill to get work from some small publishers. One game I got regular work for was #L5R. That life is a faded memory at this point.

But today I received a letter from someone who played L5R when they were young who recently came across their card binder. They want to get artists to sign them and sent cards I illustrated with a really nice letter.

Hiruma Adachi had, in fact, seen it all, after Him Dull, Guardian of the Rainbow Bridge. He did not expect to meet another goblin, this one dressed as a Dragon clan monk, guarding a humbler bridge, ALSO painted rainbow. "This is way too strange, it's time to get back to the wall."

"You'll fight us either way, murderer." said Him Dull.
