Arrogant scientist accept risking the deaths of thousands (in your case first livestock) just to be able to publish some papers and to have their 15 minutes of glory at the next conference.
If you meet somebody telling you that "gain of function" is such a great field of research, punch them in the face. Probably they deserve it...
That your authorities can't be trusted at all was shown latest at the example of the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
Do at least a minimum prepping (not a fan of the right-wing prepper community, but there are some good instructions out there)
Here two articles about how fucking common lab escapes are also in the so-called developed countries (one of my preferred topics last year, can't remember why🙃 ).
