A sorry excuse really - I really think many on the #labourLeft are blind to antiSemitism because that sort of racism inconveniently conflicts with their views on the injustice in Palestine

So fair would be that centrists within #labour get 3 goes also - one with starmer (he'll only get one - he's out if he loses #nextGE unlike his predecessor) then another centrist..... but I'm optimistic that will not be necessary

The only bit of your post that matters it the opening "I''m still going to vote Labour...."

All that "but" stuff is unimportant - and that is why #labour only wins from the centre - because it is #centre votes that #starmer needs for victory and they will not be won by a leader from the #labourLeft

I did not say "nationalisation is impossible today" - I said as a manifesto for a parliament #labour overloaded the palette in 2019 and everyone outside the #labourLeft knew it - it lost the party credibility amongst those they needed to vote for them to acheive power

So none of it got done. A more modest set of pragmatically focussed policies that bent toward the centre would have done better.

Some were won (Vietnam - Wilson kept the UK out, anti-Apartheid) but the #right have been winning since 2010

Workers have indeed changed - many traditional #labour messages do not work any more - that is why #blair won & #corbyn lost. You cannot sell #labourLeft to the UK electorate

I know that is not a popular message - but it is the truth

@jackLondon I agree with the first. Workers now are very different from those in the post war years as are the #Left (#LabourLeft) transformed/re-imaged via JC. I come from the era of strong trade unionism, CND, Anti Vietnam, Anti Apartheid Labour. Freedom to Strike, Freedom to Protest, free to criticise oppressive regimes without being stigmatised as being racist.

But I do not think that the #labourLeft is more representative of "workers" than #starmer & co - certainly they are more representative of labour voting graduates, but that is far from the same thing

As far as I'm concerned, #blair betrayed with his #messianic advocacy of #wars - I went on #stopTheWar marches - most on those marches were #labour voters. But other policy areas - no - I'd take #blair over any #tory

We only get choice if #labour is electable - coming out for #labourLeft policies has proven a losing strategy

To be clear - I voted labour under #corbyn & kept quiet like many dismayed by his incompetence

I do care about removing the #toriesOut from power - and that never happens with a leader from the #labourLeft

saddling their party with a leader who had never even held a cabinet post was folly of the first order

There is no such political force as #leftPopulism in the UK - this is not #venezuela

All very well attacking the #left at #rightWing #thinkTank - but unless he has a clearly articulated plan for the #NHS already defined & communicated to potential #labour voters he is taking a helluva risk
