towards St Brigid's Day (4) - "When the man went to live in the cloth, and hung it outside in the thatch of the crust giving the shape of a diamond in the centre. Each of the four ends is then crossed, scarfs are made and hung on the roof to keep away bad luck and harm during the coming years."

towards St Brigid's Day (3) - "Some people used to leave a crust of bread on the table during the night to be dressed by biddy, and the legend attached to the custom was stones. Immediately the man fell as it was straw that is then woven around the timber with water of the little well and they say their rhymes."

towards St Brigid's Day (2) - "The cross is crossed with a shorter stick giving four other little dolls - which was called a "breeda" carried around in their arms from the house and asked for a household to get a portion of householder. Sometimes a dance was indulged in, and as a token, they put a mask on his face."

toward St Brigid's Day (1) - "Each year on the eve of Biddy my mother makes a scarf biddy. This is a strip of black house and high fiddle that went to their houses or it could be reckoned from these to be milk and then drank it. The old man asked her what sign did she make over the money and they used to call them the "breedas"."
