A via ferrata ―an Italian term which means ‘iron path’― is a protected climbing route, built with a steel cable rail fixed to the rock, metal steps, ladders, suspension bridges and zip wires.

An easy via ferrata, unless you miss the turn and end up doing about 35m vertically. Then it's not so easy. Once I was part way up I realized it wasn't a good idea but I couldn't go back down.
