@elakdawalla someone long ago explained #s to me thus: they are like taxonomy, a way of classifying data into discreet, searchable segments. If I’m describing “rabbit” w/ Taxonomy, I’d use #mammal #lagomorpha #leporidae. If I’m posting something about a painting of rabbits and want my post to reach folks interested in art & rabbits, i would use #rabbits #bunnies #painting #art etc. #s aren’t spammy, they are just topic assists to help people find your posts.
