I’ve just finished reading #TheWindBeganToHowl by #LairdBarron. This is the fourth in the #IsaiahColeridge series, but really works as a kinda side story/novella.

But, boy, this series a lot of fun.

Barron toys with noir, there are definite strains of Marlow here, except this goes deeper & darker by degrees. Elements of it remind me of Will Christopher Baer, which is as great a compliment as I can pay.

Oh, and Barron can write rather well: which helps.

Reading these in preparation for the new Isaiah Coleridge novella from Laird Barron out from Bad Hand Books.

So far I'm 3/4 of the way thru BLOOD STANDARD- I will fly through them all if the others are as good as this jewel.

Great characters, snappy dialogue, noir-ish vibes w/ a faint hint of the supernatural or numinous. REALLY enjoying this crime fiction novel, it's fantastic.

THE CRONING by Laird Barron
This book was fantastic. Some truly unnerving scenes that made me glance uneasily around at the shadows, vivid characters & places to journey with/to, and a superb ending that I won't spoil w/ any additional adjectives. A dark fable of cosmic horror of the finest kind.
