Today we stopped by #AdirondackBrewery in #LakeGeorge, #NewYork for drinks. My wife got the Cloudsplitter Amaro Manhattan, which is #HighPeaksDistilling Cloudsplitter single malt whiskey, amaro, lucano, and bitters. I opted for a flight. Left to right, the Lake George Cider Project, Ryan's Irish Red, BA Baltic Porter, and Peanut Butter Porter. All were great, but my favorites were the Baltic and the cider. This was a great stop and I look forward to returning in the future. @beersofmastodon

I'd like to write a bit about one of the more interesting historic places in my area. It's what was known in the 18th c and before as the "Great Carrying Place." It's the rhomboid area roughly defined by Glens Falls NY, Lake George village, #Ticonderoga, and Whitehall. It's the gap between Lake Champlain and the Hudson River. That gap caused a lot of history to happen there.

Wiawaka Holiday House was formed in 1903 & that's where white, young, Christian, female textile workers at the southern end of #LakeGeorge who couldn't afford vacationing in Lake George!

These vacation houses were set up by middle class #women through #churches, private organization and even labor unions. Trash from this property was studied to understand their lifestyle
