I found a 1932 #map of #NewYorkState on the cover of a brochure promoting #AlbanyNY that is filled with absolutely delightful illustrations (and, yes, some casual racism, which I'll leave for another post).

Kinda got rained out today, so we headed to the Palace Theater to watch the Super Mario Bros Movie. And it was great. Sure, plenty of fan service, but even those that didn't pick up on those details loved it. #LakePlacid #NewYork

Went to the FISU World University Games in Lake Placid this weekend. We attended the freestyle skiing and short track speed skating. We really enjoyed being up close to the events. The crowds were not too large and the facilities are great.
Being able to attend events that are new to us is one of the reasons we moved to #Vermont.

Azroian/Gruzdev: Not much to say about them. To be fair, I was distracted because Mr Absolutive showed up partway through with a plate of cheese. And, to be very fair, it's a plate of artisanal cheese that we get from a cheese box we subscribe to, whose quarterly delivery is a Big Deal in the Ergative Absolutive household.

But still: They were less interesting than cheese. Alas.

Matthaei/Liebers: I like how they incorporate those deep edge curves into their choreography, and I *loved* how they marked the end of the first twizzle. Pity about Matthaei's fall there--that edge-curve exit was something I haven't seen before.

The choreo rhythm sequence was uninspired, though. That's also a surprise--usually the ice dancers excel at that.

Our second day skiing at Whiteface was even better than the first! Beautiful weather and even a bit warm at times. These kids definitely take after me because they asked if we could go super fast at the end of the day to get in one last run at 3:59. It was a super fun realization of a longtime dream to skate together as a family on the Olympic speed skating oval in Lake Placid with some snow falling down today.
