The limits of web searches...
Today I was trying to find about lamp stands. The one I had was a short, round wooden stand that these days might be used for a plant stand or to display a vase. All the internet wanted to show me were... lamp stands. The poles for standard lamps.
Seems there were also similar (same?) things called lightstands. Internet: studio photography stands!
And candlestands. Internet: candelabras
I added "oil lamps". Turns out lamp stands were a thing in Roman and earlier times. While I don't mind looking at Roman oil lamps, I was sort of hoping for something a bit more 19th centuryish. Thanks!
Lamp stands seem to have been common enough for uses of lamps. But modern sources don't mention them. They just have pictures of lamps, sitting alone, un-standed.
