"Ministers are removing basic housing protections from asylum seekers under new rules designed to move tens of thousands out of hotels and into the private rented sector."

"The changes would exempt landlords from regulations governing everything from electrical safety to minimum room sizes."

Speaking of political art, when my Spice Bag Eviction print comes in, I think I'll hang it next to a poster I did the art for last year that is also related to Landlordism.

Are you paying too much rent (in )? Meet Octopium Landlordicuss aka the "common London landlord". This "fishy creature", as this 1925 argues, "lives on rent". Advice against : "people must destroy IT ... or be destroyed".
Access the print if you fancy,

Why do we accept unaffordable housing as the norm?

The very existence of the term "affordable housing" is a symptom of a preventable, and cureable, disease.

If is an exceptional category, something that must be planned and programmed, then obviously the norm is unaffordable housing. When new homes are built and we are promised by the developers that some of them will be "affordable," we must consider what that tells us about the rest.

Finally, here's what the looks like now. Converted into a series of flats, and available for £575 pcm.

This is a sad fact of life in and the rest of the , where an artificial shortage of properties and a corrupt not only means exorbitant rents, but much of our landscape being cannibalised to meet this demand.

Nonetheless, the story of 320 Portswood Road continues, if not as originally intended. What stories might take place there next?
