It’s Monday morning and back to the grindstone. For today’s I’m drinking coffee from my mug and reading Country of Poxes: Three Germs and the Taking of Territory by Baijayanta Mukhopadhyay. A bit of a different read for me … but it kept coming up in my suggestions and I couldn’t not. There’s always more to learn.

What are you drinking and reading?

Just finished this epic and all-too-true tale. If I were to sum it up in one sentence I'd say it's quite likely the most American story I've ever read. Certainly on the leaderboard.

Yindjibarndi elders give evidence in Fortescue compensation hearing
theguardian.com/australia-news

"The Yindjibarndi people were awarded exclusive native title rights to their land, including where the Solomon hub sits, in 2017.

Fortescue began mining in 2013, but could not reach an agreement with the registered native title holders."

@OmarjSakr the key message behind the Johnny Cash song, A Boy Called Sue, was that sometimes parents are mean to kids to teach them to be tough.

Not a good excuse and probably reflects generations of abuse, after abuse from others. I blame capitalism too. Resource extraction, and are inherently violent systems.
