The pediment above the entrance to the administration building of Glasgow's Victoria Infirmary featuring the royal crest topped by a big cat. It was designed by Campbell Douglas and Sellars and was built in 1889.

A curious, but amusing little plaque on the Battlefield Road electric substation in Langside in Glasgow. I have no idea who is responsible for this, but it has been there since at least 2019.

Tenement chimneys, Campvale, Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow. Built in 1873, I love the fact these chimneys still have their original chimney pots on them (well, most of them do).

The Greek Revival masterpiece (mixed with Egyptian motifs) that is Millbrae Crescent in Langside in Glasgow.

Despite dating from 1876 (the year after he died), it has an incredibly strong Alexander 'Greek' Thomson vibe to it. This is because is was most likely designed either by Thomson himself or by Thomson Robert Turnbull, Thomson's architectural partner.

Today's animal from Glasgow's architecture is this regal-looking eagle from the Langside Battlefield Memorial in Langside. The memorial was designed in the 1880s by Alexander Skirving and sculpted by James Young.

Built 1847 in the Italian Renaissance style, this impressive edifice started its life as the first National Bank of Scotland in Glasgow City Centre. Around 1900, it was moved stone by stone across the city and rebuilt in Langside where it began its second life as Langside Halls.

Holmlea Primary School on the southside of Glasgow.

This impressive building was designed by Andrew Balfour in the Edwardian Baroque style. It closed in 2005 and has since been converted into affordable housing.

A great, and fun, example of how street art can be used to make a feature out of otherwise ugly street furniture.

This is by Alice Brown (Alice's Illustrations) and is from just outside of Langside Hall on the Southside of Glasgow.

Absolutely love these heads on Langside Halls in Glasgow, scuplted by John Thomas in the mid-1800s. They represent the spirits of four of the great rivers of Britain (the Clyde, the Thames, the Tweed and the Humber). There is also a fifth one representing the Severn, which is not included here.

Langside Hill Church on Glasgow's Southside. Design by Alexanser Skirving in 1894 in a style heavily influenced by the great Alexander 'Greek' Thomson, this was apparently the last grand classical church to be built in the city.
