When teaching the passive voice we tell our students to use it to emphasise the action rather than the agent. Active voice: A woman wrote the report. Passive voice:The report was written (by a woman ) The agent can be omitted. In reports on the media "A woman was raped" "A child was abused" Invariably the agent is omitted. It's rare to see "A man raped a woman " "A man abused a child " #languagematters #victimsmatter #misogyny #equality Of course if the perpetrator is a woman different story!

With "AI-generated content" all over the place, perhaps more people will get it why I objected and continue to object to using the term "user-generated content" for anything, anywhere, ever.

It's *people*, not "users."
It's *created*, not "generated."

And often it's just as creative as any "serious art."

Of course, tech robber barons want to make it seem like it's some undetermined grey goo, "content" to be mined and filtered and "engaged with", instead.

It's probably better for #accessibility and #ScreenReaders if I use grammar and punctuation, right?

So, I'm thinking I should always write that way... even though it inevitably will make some people think I'm weird or uptight.

i spent some time with a bunch of new people last week and i felt weird saying, "my wife this" and "my wife that" so i decided i shall try to never say "my wife" again.

henceforth, i will always just say, "Pam this" or "Pam that" .

it's not like people won't assume i'm talking about a significant other.
