not getting as much as i want out of Duolingo anymore so i'm replacing some of that time everyday with becoming more mindful about my relationship with booze (with help, of course)

Does anyone have young kids (i.e., 8-12) who want to learn a new language? What tools/apps/websites are they using? My 10 year old wants to learn Japanese but has the attention span of a fly, so something that is interactive and kid friendly would be nice. Thanks!

So far, going private and eliminating the Leaderboards on Duolingo has really helped.

Between that and going to Subscription from FTP (which eliminates the Hearts mechanic), I'm much more inclined to try different word orders, synonyms and just not stress when I make a dumb goof on the last question. (I WAS SOOOOO CLOSE!!! rage-quit)

If you're finding your language app is driving you nuts (Yarrrrr), maybe see if that makes the learning more enjoyable.

Reviving my Mandarin has its weird parts. Whenever I see a character my brain automatically sounds it out - which is good if I recognise it. If it's one I only _kind of_ know brain's going "brrr? frrrm? mrfp?"*, and my neurons feels like they're going through a caleidoscope 😅

(*Don't ask me why it's those sounds - neither are even close to Mandarin.)
