They use way more energy than a simple Internet search. Just have it respond to every query with "That's a great question, but what about the looming climate disaster or the ever increasing threat of nuclear war?"
I think about the Thoreau quote "Our inventions are wont to be pretty toys which distract our attention from serious things. They are but improved means to an unimproved end, an end which it was already but too easy to arrive at."
Reflect on that for just a minute.

Getting the prompting right for #largelanguagemodel to generate a chunk of code that works & testing said code, may end up taking more time than actually doing the deed by hand. It makes more sense (IMHO as a hobbyist) to have good metadata about functionality for software libraries so that they can be located & reused, with #metaprogramming generates the boilerplate.

What is it about #BingChat (creative) and nursery rhymes? When asked to write one it seems to tap into some egalitarian morality that the #GPT has acquired from the training data that was scooped up from the Internet.
A nursery rhyme about "billionaires and their technology empires" seems to be a quite neutral prompt and yet the #GenerativeAI #LargeLanguageModel output this:

I've been trying out Bing more but only testing the #BingChat interface as a way to indirectly assess #OpenAI's #LargeLanguageModel #GPT technology
I asked it to summarise a YouTube video (hoping it would read the transcript) and it fabricated stuff not in the video.
Asked it the current value of Twitter and it returned the last public stock listing from last year
But I'm really entertained by its dark humour though

@seanmcarroll a paper I have indeed read which was mentioned in the podcast is "The Debate Over Understanding in AI's Large Language Models" by @melaniemitchell and Krakauer which I very much recommend. It stresses the role of "concepts" in distinguishing human vs LLM language employment (which is why I also highly recommend Millikan's "Beyond Concepts"). Said paper here:
