After a week of working on my boat Jess, she's back on her berth where I managed to get the headsail on this morning. All set for our 1st trip next weekend. This evening I'm going to get wired into these and watch some snooker.

Balvenie 12, 40% abv, CF, E150. Still trying to get to like this one 🤔

Shackleton Blended Malt , 40% abv, NAS, E105 (probably) CF. A new one for me, I have read good things about it, but I am still making up my mind. First impressions are, it's OK, cinnamon, sugary honey and butterscotch. Orange peel notes but lacking a bit of complexity. A supermarket bargain at £18.

Lochlea Spring Edition, 2nd Crop 46%, NAS, NCF, NC. I picked this up on impulse at Geraldo's in Largs yesterday which sells chocolates, ice-cream and #whisky! I wasn't that struck by the 2022 edition of this, but again I have read good things about the 2023 and it seems to be a big improvement. I shall report back!

After threes days of good weather I have finished off the outside maintenance on my boat. Topsides cleaned, polished and two coats of wax applied, two coats of anti-fouling. Anodes changed, anchor and chain checked. Going back in the water on Friday afternoon but going out for a sail looks unlikely as, ironically, whilst a great forecast for sailing - it's too windy to get the headsail back on! Still, lots of sailing days to look forward to, a week's trip to Northern Ireland and a few weeks heading north exploring the Western Isles.

I've been working on the boat all day and I've had enough now. Last wee job was to fit some fold away shelving next to the sink. It's always tight for space in the galley, particularly when I am cheffing Sunday roast dinner. 😀
It also makes a fine shelf for the drams.

Blended by that genius Billy Walker, from Pedro Ximenex and oloroso sherry puncheons casks so it's bursting with dried fruit, sweet heather honey and chocolate. At cask strength it's a real hit of alcohol but it is very smooth no rough edges whatsoever. Seems a shame to water it down. Spicy cinnamon and ginger treacle. on the tongue. Warm, slightly bitter finish with even more spice and dark chocolate. Yummy!

Not much left. Dilemma, finish it off now or have something else and save some for another time?

An absolute belter of a morning here in Largs - still pretty cool (2°) but it should warm up to around 10° 😀

Lots of wee jobs to do on the boat, jobs that get left undone when sailing starts. Pressure washed the deck yesterday and reproofed the canvas - looking great!

After a quick birl round Cumbrae this morning and a bit of tidying up, we are settling down for the first #SixNations #Rugby match of the weekend. Perhaps too early for #whisky (maybe half-time though) but we have plenty of #beer on board as well. Expecting #Ireland to take #Italy apart and looking forward to the second game today. I'm spending a few days on the boat doing some pre-season maintenance. It's turned into a beautiful evening. A clear sky so it's going to be a cold night. A lovely sunset looking across the marina to Arran in the distance.

I enrolled in the Cindy Wider's Udemy drawing course.
Here's my effort a few years ago. HB and 2B pencils. Only used a ruler for the spear. Shield hand drawn. The head is not quite right. Still a lot of practising to go.

It was cold last night and the boat was covered in frost this morning. It has turned into a beautiful, crisp , clear day where I can see Goatfell on #Arran quite clearly, one of four Corbetts on the island (it's 40m short of a Munro). Too cold for me to do much outside but plenty to get on with inside. Then there's the World Cup...
