I just don't understand why #checkers / #draughts is played on a checkered board. Such a missed opportunity for a staggered pin grid array #SPGA.

If you don't draw rectangles for fields, but represent fields as positions and draw connecting lines between them, you end up with pretty diamond-shapes.
