Fascinating piece on #LashonHara, which seems to have some things in common with Right Speech. It’s about how we talk about each other. https://cohost.org/shel/post/29079-lashon-hara-direct

@rockymcrockerson the ideas are good (and ostensibly the point of Judaism).
My mixed feelings come from a combination of #supercessionism and #misinformation.
For example, everybody should refrain from #LashonHara, #Jewish or not and we ought to be the example of what that looks like so others will recognize why. But if #Christians call something Lashon Hara and convince everybody that's what it really means, it undermines our example. Same with #Teshuvah.

Necessary speech is not #LashonHara. "Necessary" has to do with public safety. If I know for a fact that a grocer keeps the meat in the cooler nice and pink through the use of formaldehyde, it isn't #LashonHara to report it to the authorities, or to warn another shopper. In fact, I am required to warn.
If, however, I think his grocery is not as nice as others, it is #LashonHara for me to warn others away from it.

@serge #LashonHara includes repeating or listening to unnecessary talk about others, whether true or untrue. #Rechilut is specifically #gossip.
Strictly speaking, one should offer a #tochecha (rebuke) to a wrongdoer before taking it to the authorities.

@serge Clean Speech is a campaign that began in Colorado in 2019 with the mission to unite Jewish communities in improving the dynamics of human relationships through Jewish mindful speech. People from across the spectrum of the community come together to share Jewish teachings on cleaning up our conversations. Check it out!

A question that's been asked is should Babka have a no #LashonHara policy. My understanding of what qualifies as lashon hara is low, and I know we have several #rabbi 's who could provide more insight, but I believe that lashon hara includes true facts as well as untrue rumors, and so I worry about how such a rule may be applied.
Is it lashon hara to file a report against someone due to their behavior on the platform?
