Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of my corrective #LensSurgery
I was quite nervous before and during, and the recovery period was tense at first. Lots to get used to like colours and bright lights and sunlight.
Now, 12 months on, it was totally worth it.
Sure, it cost a lot, but I feel so much better having had it done.

I’ve been considering #LASIK recently. Anyone out there in their 40s get it done? My optometrist mentioned it doesn’t last forever - is it worth it?
My home office setup just got better 😍
After my #LASIK surgery, I decided to treat my 👀 better. These monitors are expensive—but are worth every penny. No more dry eyes, blurry characters, never-actually-good colors, and brightness and contrast automatically adjusted.
Not being able to see my food clearly when I eat might be the weirdest thing about switching from near-sighted to far-sighted.

Finding I need another corrective laser eye surgery. Apparently it's super risky to have #lasik done again and I'm being told I need #PRK Anyone know what the actual recovery time is for #PRKsurgery as the surgeon is telling me I'll be back to normal activities in 2 - 4 weeks but others that have had it are saying it is a lie and I'll have vision issues for 3 - 6 months(!)
Got LASEK at Park Avenue LASEK this week. Still recovering, but it's amazing to open my eyes and not need glasses!
I wish I had done this years ago!
(p.s. this is why I'm so quiet this week)

The Telehealth dr that wrote me a prescription for #paxlovid was extremely skeptical of it, going as far as mentioning the recent lasik news as an example of why not to embrace untested medicine.
I'm a third-generation #hypochondriac, and my life is entirely ruled by extreme fear. I appreciate the point of view and all, but now I'm just starting (and coughing) at a box of pills handwringing instead of taking them.
Also now I'm scared of #lasik.
Thanks, Dr!

Habe mir in den letzten beiden Wochen #Multifokallisen per #refraktivem #Linsenaustasuch einsetzen lassen. Bei Bedarf teile ich meine Erfahrungen gerne.

@decodingtrolls many years ago a wise Dr told me "operating on a healthy eye that hapens to be miopic is operating on a healthy eye".
At the time the procedure was much more invasive and less precise (cheratotomy).
In any case, I resisted the #lasik mermaid song and I think it was the right decision. My eyes are still healthy. No dryness.
@decodingtrolls All potential patients should be warned of complications. In the case of refractive vision errors, these are correctable with glasses or, in most cases, contact lenses. But #lasik has become an industry.
@decodingtrolls The sad part is that adverse events from #Lasik surgery have been known for decades. For instance, here’s just one article from back in 2001

Considering #LASIK surgery? Do your research especially if you’re diabetic and / or might need to have #cataract surgery in the future. Know the possible consequences, and go to a top surgeon. 10% of people (approximately 50,000) per year experience complications.
Here’s a link to a paywalled New York Times article. I don’t subscribe, or I’d gift it.

Interesting piece. I had #lasik in 2001. Hands down the best thing I ever did w/r/t my vision. I also went to a well-recommended surgeon in a very dense population center, who warned about each of these possible complications, clearly told me there was a chance my vision might be worse afterwards, and advised that my corneas were likely to have a good outcome 🤷🏻♂️.
Risky Lasik
Side effects oft ignored
Patients need warning

Day 6 of LASIK and my vision is finally on the upswing. They warned me that mixed astigmatism was a tough road but damn it's been a frustrating week.
so in less than 2 years I went from paying a bunch for glasses with progressive lenses to paying more for monovision #lasik (which was totally worth it) to admitting that I might still need reading glasses *very occasionally*. So I got the thinnest and cheapest pair I found... #oldladywoes
