I'm gonna rant about a stupid thing in #StarWars the #LastJedi. There are lots of stupid things, but these are the 2 I'm going to rant on at this moment.

1. The casino. They were able to take a small shuttle from the low-speed space chase and get off at the casino planet. All for some stupid safecracker dude who rats them out anyway. They had so much time available, they could fart around, get caught, thrown in jail, meet the guy, and fly back to the low-speed space chase. Why didn't they just use that shuttle to ferry rebels from the chase down to the casino planet? Just keep going back and forth with that shuttle until everyone is safe?

2. Laura Dern's Admiral Holdo. As far as I can tell, she sacrificed herself to push the lever forward and ram the rebel ship into the empire ship. What the actual fuck!? Don't sacrifice a human for that. Never mind that we somehow don't have timers in space to activate the drives in X minutes. We DO have droids. "Really sorry, C3PO, but what I need you to do is sit in this chair. And when I tell you to—over the comm link—I need you to push this lever forward." If all that needs to happen is to push that lever forward, we have a zillion ways to do that without sacrificing a senior military officer.

The whole action/inaction of it is so contrived.

#LastJedi definitely isn't as bad as everyone says it is, but it is IMO worse than the #originalTrilogy.

#andor however, is arguably the best not literary #starWars content made. I would dare say it is better than the OT.

Rewatching Star Wars The Last Jedi. Really such a weird, strong entry. I really love Luke's journey in this movie. Rey, Finn, Rose, Holda and Dameron are standouts. This humanity of this film pairs well with the maturity of Andor. They both have lessons to teach.

I saw #GlassOnion tonight. Brilliant. Loved it. #RianJohnson flat footed the audience as thoroughly as he did in The #LastJedi. Turning the last third into a thriller was a great touch.

The biggest issue with Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy is that they started with the idea, "How do we sell more merch?" and built from there. Driven by accountants, not storytelling.

So, just saw #BillAndTedFaceTheMusic. Liked it. And it occurs to me that it, like #CobraKai, is perfect GenX nostalgia: Our childhood or adolescent heroes are now middle-aged guys going through a midlife crisis, reconciling how they imagined their lives vs. how they actually were.

(May also be why I liked #LastJedi Luke. Cranky, bitter, and burned out. I totally get it. Fish nuns, walrus milk, and re-reading ancient books isn’t a bad way to retire, you ask me.)

My absolute favorite.

The moment of triumph in this episode is one of the best in TV history. It alone makes #Andor rank above #TheMandalorian - because it doesn't so heavily rely on bacon-flavored sprinkles of nostalgia to enhance itself. #StarWars is just the background... yet it doesn't dismiss the source material in the same way many felt #LastJedi did.

This episode arc is like a miniature #ShawshankRedemption / #CoolHandLuke. #PowerDoesntPanic

Finally got around to re-watching the entire #LastJedi film, then moved right along to #Valerian (which always reminds me of The Lensmen novels, wasn't there a bunch of high grav soldiers from there, or am I thinking of Worsel).

Then once that finished, on to #TheDarkTower

Erm, Last Jedi was just as naff, as the first time I saw it. Ignoring the back story, and history it was an ok film. Valerian was better than I'd expected it to be, and Dark Tower was a little abbreviated, but good too.
