I started on my 1965 playlists last week. The Righteous Brothers had three albums hit the charts in early 1965. Starting to see some rock albums (as opposed to rock and roll) like Manfred Mann, the Animals and the Stones.
And I'm relearning just how much i dislike most show tunes, as The Sound of Music hit the charts. I got 5 songs in and then started hitting skip.
Last week's music was almost all from listening to albums from 1964, hence the top artists & albums. But the top songs were from Eurovision: Blood & Glitter is very Rammstein ish. As was Lord of the Lost's cover of Käärijä's Cha Cha Cha, the Finnish Eurovision that most people wanted to win. I also dug the Norwegian entry Queen of Kings.
Since I can't leave the house, I've been continuing to listen to as many of the Billboard top albums as I can stand. The Kingston Trio put out a *lot* of albums around 1958-1960. As did Sinatra. Also Mitch Miller, but I've start skipping his albums because they're shit. He put out another "sing along with Mitch" album about every two months, and they're all half rate choirs singing popular songs at a slower pace for singing along to. Ray Conniff isn't my cup of tea, but i don't detest their songs. I've generally liked Billy Vaughn, but he doesn't show up in the top three because his stuff is split between different labels for his name.
I barely listened to any music last week because work got intense. Played a bunch of Prince and Was (Not Was) on Friday and Saturday tho. Can blame @adrienne for the Was (Not Was), as they reminded me of the band and i haven't played my collection of them in a few months. What Up, Dog? Was the very first album i bought on CD. (First vinyl was a purchase of Make It Big and Some Great Reward.)
Between spending part of last week on a train and a shit week at work, my music listening was waaaaay down.
However, TZIA dropped on Friday and i listened to it enough in two days that artist, album and songs all dominated my charts. I listened to it enough in 3 days that it's my #11 album since i began tracking in 2020.

Last week i thought I'd relisten to Madonna's stuff because I don't remember what she did in the 00s all that well.
But the top single was a new one by blackbook called You Are Strange. They're a Swiss -Dutch duo that I'm surprised haven't caught on.
Since Pink has a new album out, i listened to that, along with her entire catalog. Also, i was digging into the long tail of what I've listened to on last.fm. i.e. the artists where I'd listened to one song. Had 1 play by the group Zap Mama. A couple days later I've played them about 150 times. Hard to describe. Jazzy. A capella. Danceable. Catchy AF.
