I have a number of FOSS projects, podcasts, and other media streams for which I make regular monthly contributions. Others that I contribute to whenever I update the software, and yet others where I "buy a coffee" when my use is periodic. My podcast friends at #latenightlinux always talk about the essential importance of FOSS together with the ongoing problem of funding FOSS. What do you think is the best model?
Please boost for more input.
One of my favourite quotations:
"It's almost as if lobbyists were a thing and capitalism is the problem."

@JoeRess Should have kept that 30-year-old Slackware you guys were discussing on #latenightlinux
Just found #languagetool on an old episode of #latenightlinux! Not sure how it compares to the data-hogging proprietary solutions, but so far this is great!
@jimsalter all your ZFS guides printed on the onesie, sold! @paperdigits
@JoeRess a large desk mat with common Linux (maybe even git, vim, etc) commands would be really cool. This could be something we can build together with the #latenightlinux family and community? Could be a fun project!
I tried Ebou [1], a Mastodon client by @terhechte afte hearing about it on #LateNightLinux. I like the browsing philosophy and threaded conversation. It's not ready for primetime on Linux yet, but it's #foss #crossplatform #rust and I'm looking forward to more.
I submitted a PR [2] for an additional Debian (Pop!_OS) dependency but otherwise building was straightforward using rustup nightly. This is posted via Ebou!

@LateNightLinux you gents have valid criticisms for Mozilla. But can't recall if you are Firefox users/recommenders?
What are your thoughts on the Chrome Web Environment Integrity proposal? Clearly I have a position but would love to hear your thoughts if I'm offbase (I did read the linked explainer).
I hope that Chrome taking another step toward enforcing browser monoculture will get technical folks to start using and recommending Firefox (or anything non Blink) more often.
@JoeRess thanks for sticking to your values when it comes to sponsorships. I was fine with the dynamic ads but appreciated you disclosing and backing out of the tracking pixels.
I've been meaning to signup for Patreon support and this tipped over my lazy threshold and I've just signed up. Hoping 2.5 Admins joins the party, but regardless happy to support you and the value and values you're articulating.

I'm surprised! I have listened to over 1300 hours of podcast during the past 12 months, meaning on average I have listened 3.6 hours of podcast per day!
The #AntennaPod is my podcast player of choice, but I have also finished two audio series on the #Realm app.
Here are some of the podcasts I listen to:
Geeky:

#DestinationLinux
#LinuxAfterDark
#DarkNetDiaries
#CommandLineHeros
General:
#WorldsGreatestCon
#StillToBeDetermined

It is so funny that after hours of listening to @JoeRess and the crew on #LateNightLinux worry about young people not being interested in #Linux and #FreeSoftware, I come to Fosstodon to realize how many of the people here posting interesting things are still in some kind of school (as students).
The future is not lost!

I typically plan my low and slow BBQ so I can do yardwork while I monitor and adjust temperature. It's been raining since I started at 0300 so I have little to do but sit under the tent, listen to the radio/podcast (thank you #latenightlinux and #cbcradio ), and post on Mastodon.
Sorry, I realize putting hashtags inline is terrible for accessibility but it seemed difficult to do it parenthetically otherwise.
I just heard about @wallabag on #LateNightLinux and think I’m going to give it a try.
@JoeRess @amolith i am listening near the end of #LateNightLinux Episode 231. i agree that there is not enough young people joining the Linux cult (LOL), i can see it when i join my local Linux user group, they look OLD
I current listen to #latenightlinux and #linuxdowntime - are there any other high quality tech related podcasts I might like?

Would love to hear #latenightlinux and/or #25admins to riff on this 🍿

Having heard of it on #latenightlinux I had to give #gping a try. However I don’t seem to see how one is supposed to see if the ping fails
Slowly listening to some older #latenightlinux podcast episodes. Love the commentary and general banter between @JoeRess and friends. I might have to have try #solus. 😂
