"Et levis erecta consurgit ad oscula planta."
I was surprised by this pretty line hiding amid the ugly misogyny of Juvenal's 6th satire.
A woman gets home, kicks her boots off and sees her boyfriend. After "erecta", "consurgit", and "ad oscula", I wasn't expecting "planta": It's the heel of the woman's foot that's "erecta", standing on her tiptoes to give her fella a kiss. I thought it was a neat trick and a charming image in this otherwise mean satire. #classics #juvenal #LatinLit
