The Other 9/11 and Native Americans: Salvador Allende was Chile's socialist president elected in 1971 enacting policies such as the agrarian reform where the land would be returned to Natives and farmers, and recognizing over 2060 Mapuche reservations. This all ended on 9/11, 1973, when General Pinochet overthrew Allende, installing a military dictatorship and reversing Allende's policies, including privatizing Native lands back to settlers.

"In the 2000s, after its local paper shut down, Bell, California, a low-income #Latino community, raised the pay of the city mgr to $788k & the police chief's to $457k. The LA Times eventually exposed the graft & several ended up in prison. Prosecutors accused them of costing #taxpayers at least $5.5m thru their inflated salaries approved at municipal mtgs. Imagine if even 1 reporter w/ a salary of $60k had been in attendance?"
