When I had the chance to interview Dr. Peniel Joseph, a history professor at UTAustin, I asked him if SB17, the law banning #DEI initiatives, made him consider leaving Texas. He said, he wasn’t leaving. “Texas is ground zero for these fights.” I respect that answer and I wonder if I would give the same one.

Judge Linda Hidalgo announced that she will be taking a leave of absence from work to obtain treatment for depression. As someone how has experienced depression, I know how difficult it is to discuss it openly when you are in the midst of an depressive episode. Yet, she did. I hope her statement will encourage others to seek help.
