Job Hunting as a (New) Professor. My latest in @atlblog. Bottom line: Find a place that makes you happy, not just for prestige. Avoid like the plague the places and colleagues that would not appreciate you for who you are.

A tamer version of a thread that blew up on Twitter. This one is solely labor economics.

If you can't take the word of someone who endorses torture as to the integrity of Justice Thomas, then at least take the word of patriot Eastman.
In case you missed it, Yves Smith takes ProMarket to task for the anonymous advisory board member's withdrawal of a piece with economic merit (the Bush, Lozada, and Glick piece).
It's important and telling!

Picture of ProMarket anonymous advisory board member dragging down Professor Zingales and the integrity of Promarket.
Bush, Glick and Lozada may need to consult more to understand. Europe, maybe?

WOW. ProMarket refused to publish any debate about this piece. REFUSED
Instead, it NOW chooses to take WRONG shots about the piece. Anon Board member wrote it?
Look at all the ad hominems!!!!!!

Advice for 1Ls, you say?
Don't let law school change who you are. If you are a kind, compassionate soul, don't for one moment let anyone tell you that you need to eliminate those qualities. Keep your humanity: It is desperately needed.
I'm saddened to report that Twitter user @IncelMisogynyDude202 has concluded that all you women law professors are wrong on all matters of law within your expertise, including Tax, Criminal Law, Contracts, and anything else within his wide range of knowledge.
The University Syllabus of the future. Or maybe, the present. By Lawprofblawg on @atlblog.
Sample: "Avoid woke language like 'justice,' 'fairness' 'woke,' 'Critical Race Theory,' 'Feminism' or 'history.'"

Near my house was a dry-cleaning service that had as a side business a document retention storage facility. Sadly, an accident caused powerful detergents to destroy some precious documents.
They were sued for bleach of contract.
I just took a sample of all the op-eds opposing antitrust enforcement. They are all about FTC Chair Lina Khan
IS NO ONE ELSE BUT CHAIR LINA KHAN WORKING AT ENFORCING THE ANTITRUST LAWS?
(Or...is something else going on...)
What is the most ridiculous thing that your university requires you to put in your syllabus?
I let Darren Bush borrow my platform to explain why his piece with Gabriel Lozada and Mark Glick suddenly disappeared from ProMarket.
They still aren't sure. But it makes for interesting reading. Check it out.

Me: This is Margie, how can I help you?
Potential Caller: Hi. I'm hoping you can be honest and upfront with me about a case.
Me: [thinking to myself] sorry buddy, I'm a lawyer you'll get vagueness and "it depends" for every answer.

It’s a lot easier to resist the temptation to visit the #ExBird site if you’ve deleted the app. I do kind of miss observing the ongoing idiocy of the Vic Mignogna supporters because that was always hilarious. I do also sort of miss the general mockery of those supporters by #lawtwitter (because also hilarious).
But I can live without that easily enough it seems.

A gentle reminder, in light of speculation about Justice Thomas' spouse Ginni as unindicted co-conspirator, that gifts to Supreme Court Justices are a nothinburger, even if the same donor gives money to support a Tea Party Group led by Ginni Thomas.
