I know why my DIL does it with my grandchildren -- lazy parenting. The kids are lazer focused on whatever (usually an animated video) on the screen and that gives my DIL a break but it's still . . .

Parenting hack: When your kid wants to watch YouTube, but it's late and they're supposed to be getting sleepy, try setting the playback speed at 0.75x. Or if you think you can get away with it, 0.5x.
