Really wish the United States auto manufacturers and legislative bodies had safety measures for people outside of motor vehicles that didn't prioritize speed and the safety of only people inside motor vehicles.

@MikeFairbanks@mastodon.world #Alpharetta has been the only place I've seen a #BarnesDance intersection; new housing is dense-ish; and they have this sign that says the #LeagueOfAmericanBicyclists (whoever they are) has declared this to be a #BikeFriendlyCommunity. I did see a line of cars queued up behind a guy on a bike and there was no honking.

The #LeagueOfAmericanBicyclists awarded #Seattle its "Gold" standard. #WalkFriendlyCommunities ranked Seattle streets at its highest "Platinum" level.

So what's happening in Seattle is not especially awful, compared to most US places.

Except the ordinary IS awful
