Agile was born with the #AgileManifestoOfSoftwareDevelopment, of course.
Soon afterwards, #agile became #scrum. From then on, it only got worse. #Agile became a ‘training’ thing.
But ‘agility’ (just as actual #lean or #quality) is and must be a different theory about how to design and organize work and value creation. It requires re-thinking organization – and put #management thinking on the garbage heap of history.
#Training or #certification or #agilecoaching won’t help people rethink organizational theory.
The #Agile movement avoided the theory problem. That’s why it has been so popular and also why it failed, utterly and completely.

“Dr. Deming never allowed the term ‘TQM’ to go unchallenged. At a meeting in Scotland, he saw a TQM poster on the wall. “Is this a TQM meeting?” he said. “I wouldn’t have come if I’d known. There is such a thing as guilt by association”. This startled many people, because the parts of the Deming philosophy that have an obvious and immediate appeal deal with the continual improvement of products and processes. These are often described as TQM. But they are just the things that Dr. Deming dismissed as ‘essential but unimportant’ “.

Gibt es so etwas wie #AgileDept, also analog zu technischen Schulden #TechnicalDept, wenn man in Richtung Agilität unterwegs ist und immer noch etwas Tolles hinzufügt, skaliert oder einführt, ohne dass die Basis steht? Z.Bsp. sehe ich oft, dass man #Scrum so halb einführt, dann zusätzlich noch #SAFe obendraufpackt, dann noch etwas #Leanmanagement, ein Schuss #Kanban dazu. Und ich denke dann, man hätte mehr davon, wenn man mal einfach die Basis mal sauber machen würde.

@nielspflaeging Most people find #Deming's work (like his books "Out of the Crisis" and "The New Economics") difficult to understand and hard to enjoy. This book (we took a look at it) is entirely different. It offers the advantage at making Deming's idea easy to grasp AND easy to contextualize.
This book is highly recommended!
