Just as we must accept that Native American “resettlement” and boarding schools and African enslavement were all genocidal, as is separating children from families on our border today, we must face there is a faction among US who are not peaceful, who do not love US, who would gladly destroy millions of lives, if they could gain more power and control for themselves.

The Holocaust, the Rwandan and Bosnian-Serbian genocides plus the Russian rape of Ukraine are not far from US.

Education is not just learning what happened and when, it’s understanding how and why. It isn’t just about memorizing dates or the exact number people that died in the Holocaust.
Education is understanding the events that led up to the Holocaust, how and why it happened. It’s understanding how people were convinced that it was required. It’s understanding how people came to feel comfortable with treating another group of people so maliciously. Education is understanding how the person who directed that “final solution” came to have the power to do so. 
Education is learning how to spot the patterns and signs of history repeating itself.
Being resolute is standing up and demanding that it never happen again.
