I had another great #guitar lesson this week. My tutor has got me learning #LennyKravitz' Do You Want To Go My Way - just getting the main riff learnt, for now, and practising the #pentatonic scale across the fretboard. I've got small hands so the stretch between the index finger and pinkie is tough but I'll get there.

I think if I was to ever join a band (oh yes, please pretty please), it would be a covers band where the songs would be the obscure songs - the deep cuts, b-sides, album tracks - instead of the known hits. Though might have a couple of well-known songs chucked in there.

I've recently purchased a new acoustic guitar and set back up my old electric to start playing again. I played in high school (15-20 years ago). I'm blown away now by all the tabs and apps available 😅 I used to buy tab books all the time. What apps are your favorite and any suggestions for scales/etc for getting back into it?

I’m Iain, I’m teetering on the wrong side of middle age and I live in the nice bit of Croydon (don’t laugh, it does exist!).

I like cycling (watching and participating), music (going to gigs and playing the guitar, badly) and am a long time supporter of Nottingham Forest Football Club. I’m currently planning a training regime to complete the Etape du Tour next year.

@11neilc1 One thing on the journey I'd liked to have realized earlier is that all the open shapes are really barred chords too. Spoiler: The E is just an F shape barred at the neck. And with barred chords you can go up and down the neck and still have actual chords. Stick with F shape for now and try it up and down neck. Was revelatory to me that "open" chords were really barred chords in disguise. Hope this makes sense... 2 frets up from F barred is G. 2 up from there is A. #learningguitar
