Ich entdecke in unserem #Sprachkurs viele italienische Wörter, die sehr ähnlich zu Esperanto sind 😁

Das ist auch damit gemeint, wenn es heißt, dass #Kinder EO als erste #Fremdsprache #lernen sollten, weil sie sich dann mit weiteren #Sprachen einfacher tun.

Taking the advice of a friend, I am beginning my journey to resuscitate my dwindling German by listening to Rammstein and translating their lyric videos. I listened to this song a lot when it first came out, and today I was surprised to find that I could sing along to the Russian lyrics but not the German. I made lots of terrific linguistic blunders while living in Hungary. Entertaining: Trying to say, “I am hungry (éhes),” but accidentally saying “I am sweet (édes).” Less so: Telling the cab driver to stop at the corner (sárok), but saying “szarok” instead. Roughly, “Please stop at the poops.”

I love seeing different languages in my feed, not because I can understand them (my grasp of German and Spanish leave a lot to be desired and my French consists of a few random introductory words and the phrase “do you speak English?” 😂) but because I’m not just getting views from one section of the population.

I also enjoy trying to understand the gist of what is written, or piece together bits of sentences from the words or phrases I do know, before I hit translate to get the full understanding.

So, to anyone who speaks a language other than English, please keep tooting in your own language!

I learnt how to say ‘confirmation’ in #japanese 1-2 days ago, 確認 - ‘kakunin’ and well, ever since then, I’ve been seeing that word everywhere 😂

It’s true that every time I learn a new word my brain starts noticing it everywhere - whether in manga or anime, written or spoken. And it’s such a good dose of dopamine every time!

Upon finishing #Ajin (the #anime although I’m definitely going to want to read the manga after this!) I noticed there’s this one line that’s been used in every episode and that I can’t get out of my head now, because my brain feels it’s going to be useful for my #japanese #language #learning process:
問題ない - no problem, no issue, it’s fine

An early #Christmas present to myself: a new #tattoo that says 「人間失格」in honour of the #Japanese #book by the same name by 太宰治 🥰
My Chinese-speaking friend told me that the simplified version of it in #Chinese is 《人间失格》and this made me realise that since I’m #learningjapanese I’d end up learning traditional Chinese characters too 😅 (nowadays people use simplified) - no wonder Kanji is quite a challenge!
