Got to *the last step* of making a wallet as a lil anniversary gift for my bf and got a nice big smudge right in the middle of the pretty light leather......tried cleaner but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere 🫥
Proud of the other finishes and look aside from a couple wonky stitches though so I may give it to him as a stand in until I can remake it.

27 followers · 16 posts · Server woof.groupThe brass rivet thing just kinda happened along my #leathercraft journey. I got sick of the cheap tubular rivets shearing or going sideways when I was setting them, or feeling like they didn't get tight or strong as I'd want them.
Using solid brass or copper rivets completely changed my experience with #leather. They didn't skew or snap or bend. They're heavier and stronger, and I love the hand marks that each one takes on. The silver zinc tubular rivets feel like toy parts by comparison.

Finished the sewing in time to get some decent pics of the collar! First time making one and #mistakesweremade but I'm extremely pleased with the outcome and can't wait to wear it.
Fun detail: this was carefully measured to my neck, so that the D rings would align exactly with the sides and back of my neck. My Master intends to clip my cuffed wrists to the side rings, and my next project is probably a leash for the back one.

Made from 5oz leather with inlaid amethysts and brass hardware. The liner is suede padded with bamboo felt.

Lidl Singer sewing machine with a size 16 needle versus 1.5mm suede with a hem (so 3.0mm of suede).
One needle broken, three bent. Suede wins.
Tomorrow we try a size 18 needle which is the largest that we can get into the machine and which hopefully won't shred the thread we're using (Vinymo #8).
When it works it's lovely and *fast*, but so far it's been five hours of frustration, dis/reassembling, getting hit in the face by a flying bit of needle and not making progress :D

Replacement iPhone wallet under construction. Going to put spring clip on other side to the silicon holder. Made from sustainably harvested chrome tanned kangaroo leather. Picture taken before gluing the card holder pockets and saddle stitching. It should outlast the phone !

The borders of the helm are golden, but I wanted to make it look like metal, so some lightning and shadowing were required. The first two hands are bronze, then three more of light golden applied in little touches in the center of the convex volumes
