Interesting. Is it "your responsibility," having gathered 70,000 people onto a fragile ecosystem that they are currently absolutely *wrecking*, to pay for the cost of repairing that damage? Is it "your responsibility" to take care of those 70,000 people, or do you instead call in the National Guard to do that for you?

Just look at this. I'm no soil ecologist, but this can't be anything but harmful to whatever microorganisms the playa supports.

@btrinen They have 32 pit toilets along that 19 miles of trail, and yet “Forest Service rangers cleaned up 1,200 piles of improperly disposed poop along the Enchantments trail last year.” People who don’t know how to Leave No Poop Trace need to stay out of the wilderness.

Olympic Chipmunk (Tamias amoenus caurinus) on top of Mt Ellinor in Olympic National Forest. These tiny mammals are endemic to the Olympic Peninsula, and are a subspecies of the wider ranging Yellow-pine Chipmunk.

Please do not feed wildlife. Chipmunks on Mt Ellinor have become extremely aggressive toward hikers because everyone stops here for the view and a snack. People who feed the wildlife are causing problems for everyone, animals and humans alike.
