One more reason why legalising is important. Years and years of criminalisation and "war on drugs" achieved nothing. "Awareness campaigns" won't make any difference. and bring the same controls which are in place for alcohol or tobacco.

Keir Starmer just stated that his government will crack down even harder on cannabis users.

Apparently (and I'm more or less quoting here) the smell of cannabis creeps into children's bedrooms from the street and ruins their lives.

Not car fumes, you understand, they aren't antisocial and don't ruin lives. Just cannabis smoke.

It's the kind of outlandish claim you'd expect from a 1930s propaganda film, not a serious politician.

A positive THC test at the roadside doesn't diagnose impairment and yet drivers are losing their licences for cannabis use that may have been days old or longer. 

Hundreds of drug driving prosecutions are in limbo as lawyers and gardaí await a judgment in the High Court.

The biggest thing that gets me about this is the hypocrisy. Addicts and even casual drug users are demonised by the party running the country and their supporters in the press and yet it's apparently well known that government is awash with cocaine.

If you're going to use it or even just turn a blind eye to colleagues using it. Legalise it and give addicts the support they need.
