Maybe he wouldn't have run if he had an on call #Lawyer like @turnsignl or #LegalShield. Someone to #DeEscalate the situation, because cops always, 100% of the time (unless you are their relative or rich and white) unnecessarily #Escalate the fuck out of the situation.
Simple traffic stop? A rational person would issue a ticket and move on. The cops want to strip your car down to bare metal and perform a body cavity search.
