I’ve got a new-to-me genre of reading: low stakes, cozy fantasy.

A reviewer described this particular book (below) as, “if Dungeons and Dragons had a baby with Animal Crossing” and they’re not wrong.

It’s a nice balancer for the more serious works I usually have queued and stacked up to read and a perfect, quick read for a rainy, weirdly melancholy day like today.

I finally picked up a copy of last Saturday and that's what I've been reading during my lunch break at work and so far I am loving it.

Also super happy to hear that it was a project. Love being able to read people's projects, hopefully one of mine can grace the shelves of Dymocks.

was exactly as warm and cosy as everyone says. The perfect counterpoint to the world ending epic fantasy that I am normally drawn to.

The cover sums it up perfectly: High fantasy. Low stakes. Good company.

Oh, another book I just read that I meant to recommend: . An orc opens a coffee shop in a land where no one has heard of coffee. It’s warm and comforting and has a cute slow-burn queer romance and a bit of a found family and… okay, it’s basically fanfic without the source material, but it’s lovely if that’s what you need!

Just finished “Legends and Lattes” by Travis Baldree and color me charmed! A cozy fantasy…who even knew this was a genre? Not me! Regardless this book was utterly delightful. Fun, fairly low stakes, heart warming, satisfying, and strangely compelling. Would make an excellent holiday or travel pickup. I’m so happy that it crossed my path.
