But also! I took a few shots twice, with two #lenses. One is the lens we’re renting this week, a Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS. The other is the kit lens we got with the camera, a Sony E 55–210mm F4.5-6.3 OSS.
It was a suuuuuper windy day, which kept knocking me around. (Some of the blurriness is definitely down to unsteady hands.) But nature is messy, so I consider it a pretty realistic comparison.
Other than cropping, I haven't done any retouching, colors, etc.

#Lenses have a resolution and they have a contrast transfer function.* They are NOT sharp - unless you can cut yourself on them but that shouldn't be the case.
Photographs are sharp or not sharp, in part depending on resolution and CTF of lenses used.
*optically there exactly one point 'in focus' - and you really do not want that in reality

Very disappointing to learn the entire editorial staff at #DPReview has been laid off by #Amazon. The site has been a invaluable resource for digital #photography #tech #reviews for years, with some of the best objective side-by-side comparison samples for #cameras and #lenses available anywhere. Informed #shopping for bodies and glass is going to be much more difficult.

It looks like Mother Nature doesn't want me to get any great shots today. I spent the last 6 hours up on this pole waiting to get a beautiful traffic shot of #highway 100 in #StLouisPark but I couldn't keep my #lenses clean.
Sometimes a #professional #landscape #photographer has to accept defeat when the elements won't allow me to get the #photo I want, even though I put in the hours and deserve it. But maybe this photo conveys that message and I still win.

Please enjoy this #DigitalArt. It was made in 2012 based on a closeup image of a #hotel #lampshade made with a compact digital #camera. One of the charms of those small sensor cameras, and their better than #MobilePhone #lenses is their ability for close focus. That was a helpful feature here.

Continuing my adventure in #vintage and #adapted #lenses here I tested this $7 on ebay #Prackticar #Pentacon 135mm f2.8. the bokeh is truly great and it is very sharp even wide open. I put this #Pancolar lens across the room maybe 10ft away and it can see the text. I set it to #ISO200 and used a #speedlite. Otherwise it would have been very grainy.
