I absolutely have to agree that this is indeed madness: “Welcome to the FIRST FULL WEEK of Lent Madness 2023! Today in the Saintly Smackdown it's Scholastica vs. Richard Hooker. Sixth century Italian nun vs. 16th century English theologian. This is precisely the kind of unusual pairing of saintly souls we've come to expect with Lent Madness. Is it fair? No! Is it Madness? Yes!” 💜

Tonight I mentioned Nicolaus Ludwig von #Zinzendorf at the dinner table because it’s just fun to say. He may have lost yesterday’s round of #LentMadness, but many folks read about his life and loved that he said, “All of life becomes a liturgy.” My 6th great-grandfather Philip Meurer knew him during Zinzendorf’s journey from Germany to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. These diary entries were written in 1742.
The #LentMadness 2023 bracket has been released!
If you're unfamiliar with Lent Madness, it's a humorous #Lent devotion, with a serious intention. A group of #saints is organised into a sports style competition. Each match up is decided by voting after reading a blog advocating for that person. The winner is announced on #MaundyThursday.
I reckon both Blandina (gory martyrdom) and Florence Li-Tim-Oi (1st #Anglican woman priest) will go a long way. More info at https://www.lentmadness.org
