"Locked room" mystery set on a transatlantic ship in 1795 carrying a secret treaty. The French navy are in pursuit. The man entrusted with the treaty is found dead and the treaty goes missing. Everyone is under suspicion.
The plot twists negate everything the protagonist does to solve the mystery, the cast was confusing and I kept mixing up Jay, Fletcher and Jenkinson. I have no idea what the point of the bear was!
A fairly enjoyable romp, even with my critisisms.
