Being named for Lepus, the entire clade Leporidae should be glossed as the hare family, rather than the rabbit family. Making true rabbits a subset of the hares (but not of true hares, genus Lepus). But this is purely a semantic point, it's just that its more appropriate, per the derivation of the converted clade name.
