A busy but glorious Friday evening. First, I was honored to serve as one of the nine readers at this year's #ColumbiaUniversity service of #LessonsAndCarols. Second, I attended an amazing performance of Handel's #Messiah by our parish's choir and musicians at our #AngloCatholic Midtown #Manhattan church. What a blessing it is to serve as a #priest during #Advent!

Tonight is the annual #ColumbiaUniversity Service of #LessonsAndCarols. It starts at 6 pm and is located in #StPaulsChapel at the #MorningsideHeights campus in #Manhattan. I'll be one of the readers. All are welcome!

I have a complicated relationship these days with Christianity. But that relationship was less complicated for long enough that the 1st Sunday of #Advent still pulls me in, with both "start of the year" and "preparing for Christmas" strands.

We watched an Advent #LessonsAndCarols service last night (along with part of another).

Liturgy and music speak to me in places deeper than intellect and rationality.
