Today is the #InternationalDayOfEducation, and UNESCO have dedicated it to the women and girls of Afghanistan who, since Sep 2021, have been denied access to #education.
"Education is a universal human right that must be respected. The international community has the responsibility to ensure that the rights of Afghan girls and women are restored without delay. The war against women must stop.
Audrey Azoulay
UNESCO Director-General

Rally today for Afghan women and girls, now banned from public and private universities in Afghanistan.
Support Boise's Afghan community at rally today at Idaho Statehouse, noon-2 pm. #LetAfghanGirlsLearn
The Taliban have now excised women from university learning. #AfghanWomen are being silenced and abused as the world watches.
Meanwhile, millions of women in multiple states have had bodily autonomy ripped from them.
Crimes against women (51% of the population) are by definition crimes against humanity. Why isn't the world doing more to stop the #WarOnWomen?

EGER - Evidence for Gender and Education Research - publishes data proving that education is essential for gender #equality.
When girls are denied education, they become more vulnerable to intimate partner violence. This is happening now to girls in Afghanistan, where the Taliban has closed their schools. We need to encourage our governments to sanction the Taliban until this changes.
