In the late 90s /early 2000s at #NCAD the library were disposing of old books. I grabbed a copy of a #Letraset catalogue, which still regularly gets scanned for historical #type It previously belonged to a Niamh Lawlor, who I reckon was there a few years before me. If anyone knows Nimah, tell her thanks! I think she's with Púca Puppets

In the '70s and '80s, if you wanted to set type for yourself, you had to resort to presstype, transfer lettering, Letraset – there were a bunch of names and a bunch of brands, of which Letraset was the highest quality. I think this stuff cost about $8 a sheet back then, when I was making about $2 an hour, so it was a real indulgence, and once I chose a sheet, it got used for any project I needed type for.

So, who else has done cool revivals of #Letraset-era classics, such as @ohno’s Casserole (tribute to Davida) or @ivanmoreno’s Octothorpe (tribute to Stripes)? I’m interested in projects that go beyond the original style somehow, not just straightforward revivals.

I love this Italian poster for Citizen Kane. Looks like a great bit of 'bad rubdown' - one for #letraset fans
