Born in 1886, Lucy Hicks Anderson was assigned male at birth, but was known to be a transgender woman. She was one of the earliest pioneers for marriage equality.

Lou Sullivan lobbied for gay, trans men to be given access to medical transition. He was visible so that other gay, trans men could see that they weren’t alone.

Revisting this article for LGBTQ History Month: Angela Morley was a composer and conductor whose film credits include Watership Down and The Little Prince. She transitioned in the 1970s and spoke about the importance of her wife’s support throughout her life.
